An ECG is a simple, quick test that shows how your heart is beating. Small sticky patches (electrodes) are placed on your chest, arms, and legs, connected to a machine that records your heart’s electrical activity.

What This Test Shows:

  • Heart Rhythm — regular or irregular
  • Heart Rate — too fast, too slow, or normal
  • Signs of a previous or current heart attack
  • Problems in the heart’s electrical system
