Bone marrow aspiration & biopsy 

How it’s performed: A small sample of bone marrow is collected, usually from the hip bone, under local anaesthesia. 

What to expect: 

  • Takes around 20 to 30 minutes 
  • Mild soreness for a day or two afterward
